I have for the first time found what I can truly love—I have found you. You are my my better self—my good angel; I am bound to you with a strong attachment. I think you good, gifted, lovely, a solemn passion is conceived in my heart; it leans to you, draws you to my center and spring of life, wraps my existence about you—and, kindling in pure, powerful flame, fuses you and me in one.
– Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre
We were blessed with the perfect weather for Brand and Miguel’s perfect day; it’s not something easy to come by here in sunny Tucson! Of course, such a beautiful love story deserved a day to match. These lovebirds met back in 2005, through Branda’s brother, Travis. Two and a half years later, they began to hang out more, and realized their friendship had become much more. “I had the biggest crush on him back then”, explains Branda, “And he confessed recently that he knew back then that I would be his last relationship, because he saw us being together forever!” In 2017, the pair had just seen their favorite band (American Football) play at the Ace Theater, and Branda shares, “We had never thought we would be able to see the band play live, since they disbanded ten years earlier. When we found out they were playing again, we were thrilled! We drove out to California, and as we were leaving the venue, Miguel leaned to kiss me. In the middle of the kiss, he took my hand, and slipped the ring onto my finger!” What a clever and sweet proposal, and it was pretty indicative of this couple, who shares a sense of humor and love of life.
Wedding planning kicked into high gear after that moment, and they settled on soft colors inspired by the fall season, and they designed it around a soft and romantic theme. Branda knew she wanted colors that would “withstand the test of time, and be something that would look classic and timeless in twenty or fifty years from now”. In the midst of the timeless and elegant look, they also wanted little bits of their personality displayed, so they added beer growlers as their table numbers, and really customized their soundtrack! The two hand-picked each and every song played at their wedding, and it set the tone for their intimate, small wedding. The Kingan Gardens was the perfect space, resplendent with a sprawling garden area, and a historic carriage house. With their closest friends and family by their sides, Branda and Miguel celebrated with a dessert bar, stunning florals, and a first look that brought a tear to my own eye as I snapped away. Congratulations, you two…I loved being part of your day!
