Meet Jane with Jane Castle Events
I recently met with Jane with Jane Castle Events to talk about her wedding planning business. She invited me into her home and oh my goodness, her home is gorgeous. It gave me some serious home envy! The modern decor and setup was so beautiful. Jane has the sweetest heart and was so much fun to be around. We were laughing and joking and having a great time the entire time. She is definitely the person you want coordinating your big day <3
You can find her on the following social media platforms:
For my Vendor Spotlights, I ask a couple questions about wedding days and the planning process to help brides get to know their vendor both professionally and personally. Here is what Jane has to say!
What was your dream job growing up?
I actually started out studying interior design in college, although my dream job and all of my careers since then have just sort of been one endeavor to the next in the design vein. I didn’t actually finish my degree in that. My degree is in art history. Which is just one of these things that, it’s good bar trivia but not a true career path. I think I have a good eye for design and aesthetic.
Why did you decide to start a business?
I needed to. I was doing this kind of as a side hustle working with Posh Petals Florist for a few years and there were more and more opportunities to do it. It kept getting bigger and bigger and more serious. The scope of responsibility grew so I had to legitimize. I couldn’t keep doing it under the radar.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
Also by way of Posh Petals. Katie and I were friends for years. I needed another job and she needed an assistant. I started doing that and then this sort of grew out of a necessity for someone in a role that isn’t necessarily a full wedding planner. Somebody that kind of just come in on the day of and do the grunt work, if that’s all you need or more. And it’s grown into more since then. I ended up loving weddings.
Where are you based and where do you meet with clients?
I’m primarily based in Tucson, Arizona. Although I’m just starting to work up in Phoenix more and more. I tend to meet my clients at my office space but I can go to them or meet them at a local coffee shop. Lots of clients are long distance so phone and email are an option as well.
What is your favorite part of a wedding day/event day?
I love that moment when the ceremony ends, because the heavy lifting is done for the day. I always breathe a sigh of relief. I think the couple feels the same way. Like ‘alright lets party!’. This also the moment where you get to see the fruits of your labor be enjoyed so that’s my favorite part of the day.
Describe your favorite type of client.
My favorite brides have all been people who sort of know how important this job is and know from day one that don’t want to delegate it to their mother or their sister or their best friend. I’ve tried to tailor my business to people who really see a value in this role and for who it’s not just about having a wedding planner. Someone who thinks the next day that that was money well spent.
if you know me, you know I LOVE animals. So of course I had to include a photo of her sweet dog. <3
What makes you different at what you do?
My service is entirely customizable. I don’t do packages. It’s tailored for exactly what each person needs and exactly the amount of time that they need. I think that a lot of the other planners in town don’t do things that way. I think being able to strategize together and be creative about how to use my services and be respectful of my time and their budget. That’s my goal in doing what I do.
What do you love most about weddings?
This is going to sound like I’m totally sucking up to you but I love wedding photography. I know that’s probably not a good answer, but I just love the excitement. I love seeing that be captured whether it’s really candid or a quiet super anxious moment. Those super special intimate moments that you don’t necessarily remember if you didn’t have that picture from the second shooter who is hidden over here.
Your favorite celebrities and why?
I love the Obamas. They are my favorite celebrities. I just want to give Barack a high five sometime in my life.
If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
I would go to Iceland because its green and gorgeous! And those fjords… and all the steaming lakes. One of my friends just went there and I got to see all of her pictures. I was super jealous.
A big thank you to Jane for participating in our vendor spotlight! You were so much fun <3
